Wake Forest University Young Americans for Liberty have drafted a petition for the Tax Day Coalition event. We will be tabling and scouring campus getting signatures for this petition. Essentially the idea is that as "young Americans" we will be paying off this country's debt, so we should have a say in the methods used to both acquire and pay off that debt. The underlying theme is the reminder that the "power of the government is derived from the consent of the governed", and this petition is establishing the terms of that consent. We'll be fax/mail/email bombing the petition to our Congressional representatives and also send it out as a press release to local and school newspapers.

It would be great if more YAL chapters could use this petition. We could really make a statement if we showed that the young people are aware of the impending economic burdens we will be facing.
